The film, The Lottery focuses on the different dynamics between Success Academy Charter schools and regular public schools, and how communities with a lack of high-quality education are affected. Success Academy Charter schools require that students be entered into a "lottery" in order to attend because "Success Academies are free, high-performing public charter schools serving scholars in Kindergarten through 7th grade." High learning results are expected from the students that attend. Charter schools differ from regular public schools by allowing their teachers the freedom of creative education; they go off of their own curriculum. In charter schools, teachers are judged by their performance, and can be let go solely due to their poor performance as an educator. In the US, 365,000 children are on waitlists for charter schools.
During the 2013 State of the Union Address, President Obama stated that he's working on n education reform to make preschool available to all children in America. I believe this reform goes hand in hand with the demographic situation in America today, because it'll help even out education opportunities and common knowledge among the struggling young children.

It's amazing that a quality public education comes down to chance. It's a shame that many American children have to deal with this. Quality education across the board needs to be the standard and not the goal. Thanks for posting.
